Biography

Lucas Hendler is a neurodivergent artist based in Woodbridge, CT, whose work explores themes of resilience, self-discovery, and emotional expression. With a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Landmark College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Teaching at Adelphi University, Lucas brings both formal training and personal experience to his craft. His art is characterized by bold colors, rich textures, and an invitation for viewers to interact beyond the surface—often using elements like blacklight flashlights to reveal hidden layers.

Lucas’s artistic journey is shaped by a variety of influences, from traditional painting techniques to contemporary mixed media. Artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Kenneth Martin have informed his understanding of art as a fusion of emotion, concept, and material. His artistic philosophy emphasizes the importance of creating connections—both within the art itself and with viewers. By blending hands-on exploration with visual storytelling, Lucas aims to make art that not only represents his personal narrative but also resonates universally, encouraging others to explore their own emotional landscapes.
